Chiropractic Care

80 percent of adults will experience neck and back pain at some point. If you have neck or back pain you are not alone. Most patients with neck or back pain come into our office concerned about what is causing their problem. “Is it a disc? Is it a pinched nerve? Is it a muscle spasm? Will I need surgery? Will I have this pain for the rest of my life?”

These are all questions that we hear from people every week. We understand your concerns and we will work hard to find the solution for your neck or back pain (we also treat arms and legs).

While many providers will recommend pain pills, bed rest, injections and even surgery, chiropractors use a natural way of healing the body, by realigning the spine with adjustments and letting the body heal itself. This is what chiropractic care is all about.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic doctors look to restore balance in the body by realigning the spine with what we call adjustments. When the spine is out of alignment, it can impact the nerves that control the body’s functions. This disruption of the nervous system can cause pain, fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling and other symptoms. By carefully examining the body, a chiropractor can detect these misalignments and work work with you to fix them.

Dr. Glenn Hyman takes chiropractic care a step further, with a more modern approach to treatment known as Active Release Techniques Soft Tissue Treatment. We also combine this with exercise rehabilitation that we will teach you to give you an active part in your own healing process. Research shows that chiropractic care, combined with soft tissue work AND rehab offers the best patient results.

What Happens During a Chiropractic Examination?

Dr. Hyman will take a complete history at the start of your care. He will then perform physical, neurological and orthopedic tests to help uncover the source of your problem. He will test muscles, movements, reflexes and other important functional parameters to arrive at a diagnosis.  If the doctor believes that X-Rays are appropriate for your case, he will tell you so. We offer the convenience of on site digital X-Ray for patients whose cases may require X-Rays.

Using Active Release Techniques Soft Tissue Treatment Systems allows Dr. Hyman to do a very specific and detailed muscular assessment, in addition to a traditional chiropractic spinal exam.

What Type of Treatment Plan will the doctor recommend?

At Dr. Glenn Hyman’s Denver Chiropractic Center, we don’t recommend long term treatment plans. We always start with short term treatment (6-12 visits), and see how you respond. Frequently, we offer second opinions to patients who’ve been told by other chiropractors that they need 30, 60, or even 100 visits!

Your treatment plan will include chiropractic adjustments to realign the spine, Active Release Soft Tissue techniques to release tight muscles, and specific rehab stretches and exercises to help you recover more fully. We also offer maintenance care to help prevent problems from occurring.
