Neck PainDoes it hurt to turn your head? You would probably be surprised by how often I see people who simply woke up with a very sore neck. Often they tell me that it hurts to turn their head or even to sit upright. This condition, though very painful, often greatly improves with just one treatment. How does this happen? This problem almost always comes from sleeping with your head in an awkward position. In such a position, the smaller muscles of the neck stretch too far and spasm for protection. Other causes include sloppy weight lifting form, carrying something heavy and injuries. All of these things cause muscles to stretch too far and spasm. Muscles in spasm can be very tight and very painful. What does Dr. Glenn Hyman do to neck pain?First I check the muscles in your neck. Identifying and correcting the specific muscles that have become short and painful is the key to getting rid of this painful problem. I do this by applying gentle tension to the muscle and combining that with specific movements. This is known as Active Release Technique® ®, which I am certified to provide. If the joints in your neck are stiff and contributing to the problem, they may be adjusted. The combination of Active Release Technique® ® and gentle adjusting can restore your body's ability to move fully, freely and without pain. Once you are feeling better, you will be given specific stretches and advice to keep this from happening again. Call 303-300-0424 today for your appointment. |
